RedWolves fall to Bacon

RedWolves fall to Bacon

The Florence RedWolves lost to the Macon Bacon 12-5 on Friday night at Luther Williams Field.

The RedWolves (0-2) jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Michael Richardson (Ohio) walked with the bases loaded to bring in Jake Swartz (Duke) to make it 1-0. After Eldrige Figueroa (Arkansas Little Rock) walked to allow Miguel Soto (Arkansas Little Rock) to score, Lex Tuten (North Greenville) doubled home Richardson and Alex Mills (USC Aiken) to make it 4-0.

Macon (1-1) would answer back with two runs in the bottom of the first to make it 4-2.

The score would stay that way until the middle innings when Macon scored one run in the fifth inning, five in the sixth and four in the seventh to run away with game.

Florence would add one in the ninth when Richardson singled home Swartz to cut the lead down to 12-5, but that is would be all the comeback the RedWolves offense had.

Robin Allen (Eckerd College) got the start for Florence and got a no-decision after going 5 innings allowing three runs on five hits while striking out six.

Nathan Bock (Southeastern Missouri State) took the loss after allowing five runs on four hits while striking out one.

Chace Harris (Ohio) got the win for Macon in relief after tossing four innings allowing no runs and one hit while striking out seven.
