RedWolves could not silence Lexington bats in loss

Jimmy Farmer

The Florence RedWolves fell 15-7 to the Lexington County Blowfish on Wednesday night at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.

The RedWolves offense put up seven runs throughout the night including four in sixth that highlighted by RBI singles by Joe Simone (Rider), McLendon Sears (College of Charleston) and Brody Gibson (Oral Roberts).

But that was not enough for Florence to close the gap with the opportunistic and hot hitting Lexington County bats, that took advantage of five Florence errors and collected 18 hits to score in all but the sixth inning and pick up the win.

Jackson Svete (LIU-Brooklyn) took the loss after tossing 1.2 innings allowing six hits and five runs while striking out three.

The RedWolves offense was led by Sears who went 3 for 5 with two RBIs and Ben Peden (The Citadel) who went 2 for 5 with a home run and a RBI.

The RedWolves (15-11) will return home on Thursday to take on the Macon Bacon.

It will be Thirsty Thursday at Sparrow Stadium as well as Stadium Cup giveaway night.

Gates open at 6 pm with first pitch scheduled for 7 pm.
